In May, Eli Pinney Elementary School in Dublin dedicated a beautiful memorial to Lauren and one of the school's teachers, Jacquie Daughenbaugh, who also died of cancer in 20007.  Lauren and "Mrs.D." were friends and used to talk about cancer treatments to each other.  Students at the school designed the memorial with the guidance of local artist Michael Liscano.  Located at the front entrance of the school, it also includes a memory garden of bricks with messages from family and friends.  The students incorporated symbols of things that were special to Lauren and Mrs D. into the sculpture.  For example, the memorial includes three rods for Lauren;' cat's whiskers and the curve of a high heel because Mrs. D loved high heels. 

During an inspiring and uplifting dedication ceremony students sang the song "This Little Light of Mine".  We were truly amazed by the outpouring of love for Lauren and Mrs. and by the efforts and thought put into the memorial by all the students, parents and teachers.  WE want to thank all who were involved in this special project.
